Apprenticeships are availabe to individuals who want to become Equine-Guided Education professionals. Apprenticeships are customized to fit you. They take into consideration existing professional training and horse experience. Those in the program benefit from the experieince of two equine-assisted coaches, Lynn Baskfield and Ann Romberg. Below is one example of how an apprenticeship might be structured. This was designed for somone who had little horse experience
PART 1: Equine Guided Fundamentals
4 months
- Assigned readings
- Research—What's out there?
- Observational activities with horses
- Spend time with horses/ feed, water, etc.
- Assist at one of our equine guided workshops
- Write an integration paper or do a creative project that summarizes your learning
- Complete at Apprentice community gathering
PART 2: Learning as Client
4 months
· Receive series of coaching experiences with one of the apprenticeship coaches (4 individual sessions, 1 workshop)
· Assist at one workshop
· Take an additional approved training outside of the apprenticeship such as EAGALA, EGE, Coach Training Institute, etc.
· Write a reaction paper after each experience
· Do vision collage or other project that summarizes your learning
· Complete at Apprentice community gathering
PART 3: Application/Supervision
4 months
· Design the next 4 months
· Coach 8 practice clients with the assistance of horses. This can be done with several different clients or you may take one or two clients through a series.
· 4 sessions observed by one of the apprenticeship coaches
· Participate in three-day Apprenticeship Labwhere you learn to design and deliver a group workshop
· Completion celebration and look at what's next in designing your practice
